Check step

A check step evaluates an expression against run variables. Use it to gate agent or command work.

• if — expression using variables / {{...}}
• then — steps to run when the check passes (optional; default continues the outer list)
• else — stop or a step list when the check fails

Expression tips

• Compare strings and booleans from the event catalog ({{failed}}, {{pipeline.failed}})
• Keep checks cheap; put heavy work in then
• Prefer clear ids so later steps can read steps.<id>.passed
